LAW O F F I C E
ATTORNEYS AT LAW
30849 FIRST STREET
PAUL J.SANDELIN P.O.Box 298 TELEPHONE(218)568-8481
STACY M.JOHNSON PEQUOT LAKES,MINNESOTA 56472 FAX(218)568-8444
www.lakesarealaw.com
January 2, 2008
VIA EMAIL
City of Pequot Lakes
Attn: Sandy Peine, City Clerk
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: Lilac Drive-Brunes Royce Addition
Our File No. 25000.068
Dear: Sandy
I reviewed a copy of the recorded plat entitled Brunes Royce Addition that includes the street
entitled Lilac Drive. The plat was approved by Crow Wing County in 1996 and was previously
part of Sibley Township. A copy of the plat that I obtained from the County Recorder is attached.
The street was initially identified on the plat as South Brunes Street. I understand that the City is
interested in opening or accepting Lilac Drive as a City Street.
The Brunes Royce Addition Plat does include the appropriate dedication language in the plat
whereby all streets identified on the plat have been dedicated to the public. My understanding is
that the City has not formally accepted Lilac Drive as a City Street nor has the City maintained the
street although a portion of the street has been improved but not necessarily to current City Street
standards.
The City may accept a portion or all of Lilac Drive as a City Street through a resolution adopted
by the City and recorded with the County Recorder. I would suggest that a recommendation be
brought to the City Council indicating the reasons for accepting street as a public street. If you
would like I can prepare a resolution that the City may consider and adopt.
Some alternatives the City may consider with respect to improving Lilac Drive to City standards
would be as follows:
