Accessory Dwelling Unit Presenters January 26, 2022 Samar Jha is a member of AARP's national government affairs team working as a Senior Legislative Representative. Samar represents AARP before local and state governing bodies and manages relationships with elected and appointed officials with advocacy on housing and livability policies that support MRP members. Prior to AARP,Samar served as the Director of Government and Public Affairs at the Greater Philadelphia Association of REALTORS® where he represented the association's interest at the local and state level. In addition to government affairs work, Samar also has over six years of legal experience working as a corporate lawyer in India working on aircraft leasing and financing,mergers and acquisition,and banking and finance. Samar has a Master of Public Administration (MPA)from Fels Institute of Government, University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Laws(LLM)from the University Of Pennsylvania Law School.Samar also has a Bachelor of Arts(BA)and Bachelor of Laws(LLB)from Nalsar University of Law,Hyderabad,India. Jay Haapala-Associate State Director with AARP Minnesota Jay's role is to advance Age-Friendly principles and support the related efforts of local community groups across the state.Fourteen cities and counties and the state of Minnesota itself have joined AARP's Network of Age-Friendly States&Communities and they are working to make improvements to their physical and social environments for older residents.Jay helps connect them to AARP's network and each other. The consistent threads of his 20-year nonprofit management career are volunteer resource leadership and building communities. Jamie Stolpestad is a founding partner of YardHomes,a Minnesota-based ADD provider. Like some of its peers on the U.S. West Coast, YardHomes provides a complete solution ranging from pre- designed and engineered pre fabricated units,all permitting and installation,and even financing, to make it easier for consumers to add an ADU to their property. Jamie brings over 25-years in real estate investment and finance to this role.He was CEO of Allianz Real Estate and directed the creation of its U.S.investment team and an$8.6 billion investment portfolio.He held previous senior roles at GE Real Estate, The Mills Corporation,and started his career in investment/development officer roles in Chicago. Jamie is an active advisor and consultant, including for the Knight Foundation,Morrissey Hospitality and Titanium Partners. He is also a part-time adjunct professor of finance at NYU Stern School of Business, teaching a popular course in its Executive MBA program in New York.
