' « COUNTY MINNESOTA February 15, 2022 TO: CITY AND TOWNSHIP CLERKS Today, February 15, 2022, the Courts delivered the congressional and legislative redistricting plans for the State of Minnesota following the 2020 census. A copy of the plan can be found at Special Redistricting Panel 2021 webpage. Copies of the Congressional and Legislative maps are attached to this email for your review. Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 204B.135, cities and towns must redistrict within 60 days after the legislature has been redistricted or by March 29th whichever comes first; therefore the deadline for redistricting for municipalities is March 29th. While there were some changes to the legislative districts in Crow Wing County, there were only a couple of situations that will impact the precinct boundaries of the cities and townships. • City of Brainerd W3-P3 will remain a separate precinct as it is in a different legislative district (6A) from the rest of the city of Brainerd (6B) • Crow Wing Township can combine P1 and P2 to have all of Crow Wing township as one precinct as the whole township is now in the same legislative district (6B) • Long Lake Township will need to create a P1 and P2 as there is one census block that is now in legislative district 6B while the rest of the township is in district 10A. We will be providing a map for Long Lake for your reference soon. Attached to this email are example resolutions for reestablishing unchanged precincts and polling places or for establishing new precincts and polling places (Crow Wing and Long Lake townships will need to adopt this type of resolution) . Once you have adopted your resolution reestablishing or changing your precincts and polling places, please forward a copy of the resolution to my attention, and we will coordinate providing the notices to the Secretary of State's Office as well as publishing the maps and notices as required. To meet all statutory deadlines, please make sure your board/council adopts the required resolution and you have forwarded a copy of the resolution to us no later than March 29, 2022.
