City Council Minutes <br /> January 24,2022 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> Council Member Ronning and Chief Kiang discussed the Chiefs responsibilities, <br /> full time office manager, hiring a full-time officer, the value of part-time officers, <br /> budget, employee evaluations, and liaison to police department. <br /> Council Member Pederson researched local Police departments regarding <br /> the importance of hiring the sixth officer for Pequot Lakes. <br /> MAYOR GARDNER MOVE TO HIRE A FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> Consensus of the Council is to have the personal committee research the non- <br /> union pay scale and bring to future council meeting. <br /> 6. Joint Fire Department Agreement <br /> Mayor Gardner stated the joint fire committee will be meeting with Breezy Point <br /> on Wednesday to discuss this agreement. Council Member Seils thinks this <br /> version of a joint-powers agreement protects Pequot Lakes better than the <br /> original draft. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding equipment replacement,joint-powers board sets <br /> the fire department budget, there is a requirement of five members present to <br /> vote on any decision, agreement benefits Pequot Lakes, and fire contract market <br /> value. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO HAVE THE FIRE COMMITTEE <br /> COMPLETE THE NEGOTIATIONS. COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 7. Change February Council Meeting Date <br /> MAYOR GARDNER MOVED TO CHANGE THE FEBRUARY COUNCIL <br /> MEETING TO FEBRUARY 8, 2022,AT 6:30 PM. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 8. Adioumment <br /> There being no further business, COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO <br /> ADJOURN.
