requests have not been fruitful as only $5 has been <br /> contributed in the past six months toward our goal of <br /> $3,200. <br /> I am personally asking for your backing of our efforts. The <br /> Chamber is trying to raise $13,000 in sponsorships from <br /> our member businesses for our two biggest events of the <br /> year — Stars & Stripes Days and Bean Hole Days — in <br /> addition to the extra funds for fireworks. These events draw <br /> thousands of people to Pequot Lakes every summer. <br /> We invite the City Council members to encourage our <br /> residents and visitors to our community to donate to keep <br /> the fireworks show on July 3. I have set up a donation fund <br /> at Lakes State Bank in Pequot Lakes. The Chamber works <br /> very hard for the businesses in our community, provides <br /> visitors with information about Pequot Lakes and <br /> surrounding areas, and helps to keep Pequot Lakes relevant <br /> when people are looking for a vacation destination or <br /> seeking to relocate. <br /> Any effort large or small will be greatly appreciated. We <br /> have until June 9 to raise the necessary funds or the <br /> fireworks may have to be cancelled for the year. <br /> Council Action Re uested: Council discussion. <br />
