I 1 Passenger Safety Coalition <br />• Dec. 11 Jenkins Township Meeting <br />• Dec. 18 Reserve Officers Meeting <br />DEPARTMENT UPDATES: <br />We currently are partnering with the sheriffs office in training opportunities for 2013, including <br />use of force and weapon qualifications. We continue to look for ways to partner with our <br />neighboring agencies and are pleased with these exciting opportunities that lie ahead. <br />We continue to be actively involved in TZD (towards zero deaths) in making our streets safer, <br />collectively we have arrested a little over 1300 DWI to date by working DWI saturation patrols, <br />seat belt, move over law and texting enforcement projects. <br />RESERVE OFFICERS UPDATES: <br />-The Police Reserve Unit added 3 new Reserves within the last month. Kaitlin Denton, Sandra Johnson <br />and Joshua Johnson (no relation to Sandra) have all become active members within the unit. <br />-The Pequot Lakes High School Basketball season is underway and the Reserves are again helping <br />provide security at the games. No incidents to report so far. <br />- Several Reserves had logged hours (other than basketball games) riding with Regular Officers and <br />providing some additional daytime and evening patrols. <br />- Additional training is being planned for 2013. Topics may include Missing Persons, Weather Spotting, <br />First Aid & CPR and several more. <br />-As of December 31, 2012, Reserve Captain Carl Borleis will be stepping down from the Reserve Unit, <br />Reserve Sergeant Craig Friday will be the new Reserve Captain starting January 1, 2013. The Police <br />Department and the Reserve Unit would like to THANK Carl for his 6 i/2 years and countless hours of <br />service. He will be missed. <br />TRAINING <br />• Dec. 11, 12, 13 — Officer Ryan and Officer Hogan attended a 3 day training course in Mpls. titled <br />BCA Crime Scene Course for Minnesota Law Enforcement <br />
