The Broadband Grant Program <br />deadline was on September 30, 2020, however, she can get the information for <br />2021. Commissioner Lubke stated that he thinks the area would benefit by <br />working together. <br /> <br />5. Housing Task Force Update <br />Commissioner Lelwica stated there was a group that met on September 9, 2020 <br />regarding expanding and improving the housing in our area. The group came up <br />with track one – rehab existing stock, track two - single or multifamily home on <br />existing lots, and track three - planned housing developments. The name of the <br />project is Heart of the Good Life Living. Mr. Jurchen stated there needs to be <br />solid support from the EDC, Planning and Zoning, Mayor and Council to move <br />forward. <br /> <br /> Discussion ensued regarding funding, infrastructure, availability and possible <br />partners to move forward. <br /> <br />6. City Administrator Hiring Update <br />Ms. Duus gave an update on the City Administrator process. The Council has <br />chosen to interview 6 individuals, however, 1 has dropped out. The Council <br />would like the EDC members to come to the Interview Meet and Greet on <br />September 28, 2020 from 4pm – 6pm at the Cole Memorial Building. <br /> <br />7. School Update <br />Chair Lindholm stated the School Board put a pause on the remodel of the Echo <br />building; the Board approved Walker/Hackensack/Backus to join a co-op for girls’ <br />hockey; and have established an E-learning Plan so they can have learning days <br />instead of “snow days”. The district has been able to stay ahead COVID 19 <br />contact tracing. <br /> <br />8. Chamber Update <br /> <br /> Ms. Wasserman stated the Chamber is planning the Light the Night event. <br /> <br />9. BLAEDC Update <br /> <br />Mr. Glynn said the CARES Act funding first round application period has ended <br />September 18th. Pequot Lakes had 13 out of 19 applications approved for a total <br />of $118,683 in the first round. They received a total of 183 approved applications <br />for a total amount of $1,770,173.49, there were 72 applications that were not <br />approved due to not meeting guidelines. The second round of funding is worth <br />$2.4 million dollars is now available October 13-24th. There have been flyers <br />being dropped off at businesses that did not apply in the first round. Possible <br />remaining funds may reimburse YMCA for daycare cost during the beginning of <br />COVID for essential workers as well as schools.
