Request to Vacate a Portion of Front Street
Mike Loven informed the Council that Beverly Rathcke is requesting that a
portion of Front Street that runs between her properties be vacated. The
request has to do with the access that was recently closed on Highway
371 and Front Street. Mike noted that the Attorney has preliminarily
reviewed this and has suggested that the City needs to decide if vacating
the road is in the best interest of the public and whether or not the City
should initiate the request. Mike Loven recommended that the City vacate
the road to the property line of the City property. He explained that the City
is currently maintaining the road which leads to a turnaround on the
`- Rathcke property.
Council Member Ryan questioned whether it is in the best interest of the
City to vacate the road until there is a road plan for the City. Mike Loven
noted that he has been told that MnDOT would not reopen the entrance.
COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO PROCEED WITH THE
ROAD VACATION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
PREPARE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE VACATION.
COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION.
