EDC Minutes <br /> December 15,2020 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Mr. Jurchen stated the committee will continue to work on finance options, <br /> property availability, identify contractors/developers who will be willing to work <br /> with the program and match the properties with the appropriate <br /> contractors/developers. <br /> 5. R5 Children's Museum <br /> Chair Lindholm shared that Pequot Lakes was in the running for the Region 5 <br /> Children's Museum, however was not chosen. The location that was chosen, has <br /> pulled out of the project. Region 5 is going to start looking for a new location. <br /> Chair Lindholm has reached out to Region 5 and Bill Brekken, Crow Wing County <br /> Commissioner, to volunteer that Pequot Lakes is stitl interested in having the <br /> Children's Museum in the City. <br /> 6. School Uadate <br /> Chair Lindholm stated the district is still in the Distance Leaming Phase. The <br /> Department of Health has given the ok for the district to start bringing students <br /> back into the buildings in January. There will be a hybrid version where K-6 will <br /> be in school with staggering classes and the 7-12 will be twro days in school and <br /> 3 days distance leaming. Commissioner Becklin inquired about sports for the <br /> winter, Chair Lindholm stated sports depend on the Govemor's decision this <br /> week. <br /> 7. Chamber Uadate <br /> No update was given. <br /> 8. BLAEDC Update <br /> Tyler Glynn stated the o�ces will be closed on December 23�through January <br /> 4�'for families to work from home. The CARES Act funding has finally wrapped <br /> up with checks being mailed out. Mr. Glynn stated that the CARES Act grant <br /> funds were distributed as: $1.486 million was granted to broadband, under$2.9 <br /> million for small business grants, $791,000 non-profits, and $728,000 for schools <br /> and the YMCA for a total of$5,892,000. <br /> 9. Citv of Jenkins Update <br /> No update was given. <br /> 10. Other Business <br /> 11. Adioumment <br /> There being no further business, the meeting adjoumed at 8:43 a.m. <br />
