�r af <br /> ������ <br /> L��s.� <br /> NEW BUSINESS—SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE DISCUSSION <br /> Subject: Short-term Rental Ordinance <br /> Agenda Item: 5•4 <br /> Background Information: At our November Planning Commission meeting <br /> while discussing Guest Cottages and Guest Quarters, City Planner Burslie stated <br /> that all short-term rental properties within Crow Wing County must have a <br /> license through the County, even though the municipality may have their own <br /> short-term rental ordinance. <br /> � The City of Pequot Lakes adopted their Short-term Rental Ordinance December <br /> 4, 2oi8 and was effective January 1, 20�9; a copy is attached for review. Crow <br /> Wing County held their Public Hearing December 31, 2oi9 and the effective date <br /> of their ordinance was January i, 2021; a copy of their ordinance is attached. <br /> � ANNUAL PERMIT FEES: <br /> Pequot Lakes• $75 <br /> Crow Wing Countv: <br /> $200: 2 bedrooms or less; <br /> $300: 3 —4 bedrooms; <br /> $400: 5 — 6 bedrooms; <br /> $500: 6+bedrooms. <br /> • If proof of Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) license is provided, <br /> Crow Wing County will waive the County licensing fee; <br /> • Under the current ordinances, a Pequot Lakes property owner would be <br /> required to make application for a permit from Pequot Lakes, a license <br /> from Crow Wing County, and contact the MDH about lodging license <br /> requirements; <br /> • Under the current ordinances, a Pequot Lakes property owner would need <br /> to pay $375 for the permit and license for a 3-bedroom dwelling, if the <br /> MDH lodging license is not required. <br /> • MDH lodging license fees are unknown to Staff. <br /> Pequot Lakes Short-term Rental Permits: <br /> 2oi9 - i <br /> 2020 -2 <br /> Planning Commission Direction: The Planning Commission should be <br /> prepared to discuss our Short-term Rental Ordinance. <br /> Pequot Lakes Staff Report 5.4-i <br /> January 21,2o2i <br />
