PEQUOT LAKES LIBRARY BOARD MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8T", 2020, 4:30pm <br /> Members Present: Courtney Gran,Terri Grimes, Mark Jurchen, Faith Kimbler, and Melissa Birch (remotely <br /> by phone) <br /> Members Absent: Renee Moodie <br /> The meeting was brought to order at 4:30pm by board president, Mark Jurchen. <br /> A motion was made by Teri to approve the minutes from the last board meeting. Courtney seconded the <br /> motion. Motion passed. <br /> Melissa gave the financial report. Expenditures as of August 31, 2020 are at$18,937.36 for the year, <br /> which is on track. Additional expenses not in the budget include engineering fees (north parking lot), <br /> contract services (painting). $5000 was received from Kitchigami library so we are at a total revenue of <br /> $9,515.62 which is on track for the budget. Cash balance as of Aug. 31 is$127,319.05. A motion to <br /> approve the budget was made by Teri. Courtney seconded the motion. Motion passed. <br /> Mark gave an update on the parking lot and landscaping. He has contacted 3 companies for paving <br /> parking lot and landscaping.They will do a diamond cut retaining wall to replace timbers along north <br /> side. They will add a ramp in front by the drop box and trees in front with trim and mulch. Hoses will be <br /> purchased to water the two new flowering crab trees which will be donated by Friends of the Library. <br /> Landsburg nursery will install the trees. A motion was made by Melissa for the trees to be funded by <br /> Friends of the Library and Courtney seconded the motion.Total is$2,049 for the cost. Waiting for bid for <br /> retaining wall. Companies are behind so hopefully this will happen this fall. <br /> Members reviewed before the meeting the executive order for mask policy and the Covid-19 <br /> preparedness plan for the City of Pequot Lakes that was sent out by Mark.The mask policy is a one page <br /> policy to keep it as simple as possible for volunteers and patrons. Mark is most concerned about <br /> confrontation that volunteers could possibly have with patrons. A maskless hour at the library was <br /> discussed. Melissa brought up that the governor's mandate requires that masks be worn indoors and we <br /> as a city entity open ourselves up to criminal charges and the maskless hour may be illegal and put the <br /> library in an awkward position. There is a need to have consistency across the library which includes the <br /> policy on masks. Kitchigami library had a similar issue and was told they couldn't do special hours.A <br /> motion was made by Teri to approve the mask policy with the change to delete number three which is <br /> the maskless hour. Courtney seconded. Motion passed. <br /> Nancy Adams reported on the new computer chairs. She reported that they are nice and are working <br /> out well. Thank you to Nancy for ordering them. Computers are continuing to be updated to desktop. <br /> Teri Grimes gave us a Children's Program update.The flyer that was put together for summer 2020 will <br /> be updated and used for 2021.The theme will be Heros. She will be contacting first responders, war <br /> vets, firefighters, and have a women's program of Historical Characters, a therapy dog, and an <br />
