PEQUOT LAKES COMMUNITY LIBRARY MONTHLY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2020
CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES
1. The library had almost 1,000 patrons enter the facility in the month of
November with volunteers contributing near 250 hours of their time for the
month. We have attached the information for review.
2. The library board met on December 8th, at 4:30 and reviewed the activities
and financial information for the previous quarter. A copy of the agenda is
attached. Updates were given on the work that has been done to the
grounds at the library which included a new retaining wall on the north end
and trees planted in the front. The parking lot will be delayed until 2021
due to contractor availability and COVID.
3. Terri Grimes reported that the Children's Reading Program will be delayed
due to COVID until 2021. The topics planned for 2020 will be moved to
2021.
4. A primary objective of the strategic planning for the future of the library
includes the connection to fiber. The availability of high speeds and
capacity will be vital in efforts to expand the library's role in the community
to work force development and establishment of a resource center.
Distance learning, along with life-long education for adults are key
components of the objective.
5. Discussion on succession of current key volunteers will be considered in
2021 with exploration of possible paid staff beginning in 2022.
