Angie Duus
From: Mark Jurchen <lowhat@tds.net>
Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2020 10:57 AM
Subject: Update on Housing Task Force
Good morning everyone.
Thank you again for your willingness to be involved with this important effort in our City. We value all that you have to
contribute.
Michelle and I would like briefly update you on the progress so far. It has been a challenge with COVID to meet with
groups and individuals on the various aspects of housing. However, we are making progress:
1. Michelle and I updated the Economic Development Commission on the activities of our task force. They are
very supportive of the efforts and the important role it plays in market and economic development.
2. Sheila and I have met to review and identify properties that may be suitable for rehabilitation or infill in the core
area of the city. Sheila has kindly spent several hours pulling the property information for the core area
redevelopment emphasis. We will use that information for our future meetings.
3. Michelle and I have scheduled a meeting with John Schommer and Eric Carpenter with the Brainerd HRA for
Tuesday, November 24`h. They will update us on current finance options for rehabilitation, etc. and the county's
program.
4. We have made contact with the Pequot Lakes HRA and brought them up to date on our activities. They have
also indicated they wish to be involved in the process and will be joining our meetings where possible.
5. Mayor elect Tyler Gardner and I met this week to review the Housing Task force results to date and discuss
future direction and activities of our group. He indicated that housing was also one of his major concerns and
was supportive of our efforts. We hope to make a formal presentation to the City Council in February.
Please feel free to respond to this email if you have any updates, insights, or other activities you have been involved
with concerning our group. If possible, we would like to get back together again as a group for a meeting to go over
what has been completed and review our goals and objectives. We'll see where we are at with COVID restrictions and
may utilize Zoom, etc. if necessary.
Thank you again and enjoy the beautiful day.
LTAMIV."1011[aOIM
Mark Jurchen and Michelle Lelwica
Co -Chairs, Pequot Lakes Housing Task Force
