AGENDA ITEM # 9.4
c:y of
Pequot
Lakes - -
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Jason Gorr— Public Works Director
Date: October 6th, 2020
Subiect: Wildlife Trail Road Status, Upgrades, and Maintenance Request
Report: Pequot Lakes Resident, Mike Czech from Wildlife Trail has requested
the City's Assistance with Snow Removal on their private road.
In researching past discussions on the topic with the city, I've discovered several
things:
- this is one of about 2 dozen private roads remaining in the city, and past council
had elected to not maintain as that would set a precedent and would also likely be a
liability issue for operating on private property
- this road was deemed not up to the city's required specs for public roads at the
time
- this road has since had significant upgrades to help it approach meeting standards
(Platted, ROW established, adequate base layer, and % slope, drainage)
- our staff is already removing snow and maintaining streets nearby, such as North
Sluetter and after recent inspections, we feel we could handle the addition if
council would decide to take it on in the future.
Council Action Requested: Council is requested to consider Mr. Czech's request
and more specifically gauge their interest in pursuing steps necessary to add
Wildlife Trail as a public road.
