.. 'Page I of 2
Tim Houle
From: Tim Houle
Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2009 3:45 PM
To: 'Willis Hoyt
Cc: carcol @infotelcom.com; Sandy Peine; Mike Loven; Mike Rude
Subject: RE: Pequot Lakes - Trailside Estates
ma
I tried to call you about 3:15 pm today but was told you were out.
Here are my comments on your Email below.
I would have hoped there would have been an exploratory excavation to the east/north of the
water valve around Sta 7 +31. 1 know your previous suggestions were to start at Sta 7 +20 -1
believe this was based on your field notes or other information that gave you the confidence
that there would either be a minimum 8.5. feet of cover or appropriate insulation in this area so:
future problems do not occur.
do not think we need to insulate all the way to Sta 11 +29 (Hole number 7) as that is over the
8.5 feet of cover. However, I do not like stopping right at Sta 10 +89 (Hole number 6) as we are
still shy of the required 8.5 feet of cover. I would suggest splitting the difference between these
two stations (about Sta 11 +09).
Whatever happened to insulating around the water valve (about Sta 12 +50 to .Sta 12 +60) at
Isabelle Drive and Paul Circle? The City's measurement for the valve on the Isabelle side was
6.5 feet — I don't believe there is 2 feet from the nut down to the top of the pipe.
If the construction can be held to the south side only (a saw cut down the center of the road), I
am fine with that. If we go across the centerline (in either direction), I believe we need to go all
the way to the edge of the concrete gutter so we don't have a sawcut / future joint in wheel
paths.
As the 1 -year correction period starts over again on this repair work, I would strongly
encourage making sure to get all of the sub - standard depth watermain addressed.
Please contact Mike Loven at the City a couple of days in advance of when work will be taking
place.
Thank you,
TimH
Timothy M.
