Pequot Lakes Police Monthly Repott
June 2020: During the month of June (15Y-30th),the Pequot Lakes Police Department has a
record of 253 calls for service. Ryan Franz was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the
caller's driveway. When Sgt. Franz arrived, he found the vehicle running and a single male
occupant passed out inside. Upon rousing the male and speaking with him, Sgt. Franz noticed
narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle. From his training as a Drug Recognition Expert, Sgt.
Franz also concluded that the male's behavior was consistent with that of recent drug use. With
assistance from a Breezy Point officer, a search of the vehicle produced methamphetamine and
various drug paraphernalia. Sgt. Franz applied for and was granted search warrant for a blood
sample from the male. $760 in cash was seized from the male pending forfeiture. The male was
charged with gross misdemeanor 3d degree DWI and felony possession of a controlled
substance.
