Park Commission Minutes <br /> June 11, 2020 <br /> Page 2 <br /> ------------------------- <br /> Ms. Peterson stated that due to COVID-19, the Community Action street dance <br /> on August 1, 2020 is cancelled. The consensus of the Commission is to have a <br /> band that night. Ms. Peterson will start to reach out to find a band for that <br /> evening and will let the Commission know once we find one. <br /> Ms. Peterson asked each of the Commission members to be responsible for a <br /> weekend this summer for the Bands in the Park program. Each member <br /> volunteered for a date, which includes being the contact for the band that day <br /> and being responsible for getting the band evaluations completed. <br /> 6. Dark Sky Parks <br /> Chair Ronning received a letter and gave an overview of Dark Sky Parks. <br /> Conversation ensued regarding the possibility of Mayo Lake Park being the spot <br /> for a Dark Sky Park, however, the consensus of the Commission is the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes does not have enough acreage and the application process is very <br /> extensive so the subject is tabled at this time until researched further. <br /> 7. Government Drive Holidav LiQhtinq <br /> Ms. Bittner stated that Mr. Gorr has met with an electrician, and have installed <br /> new receptacles along Government Drive and the band shell since they had to <br /> run power to flag display. Chair Ronning asked about the light posts in the park, <br /> Ms. Bittner stated that replacement posts are in the Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> 8. Art in the Park <br /> Ms. Bittner stated that she and Ms. Malecha discussed whether or not there are <br /> new pieces in the display. The City has not received any waivers regarding the <br /> pieces, which was the agreement with the prior teacher. Ms. Bittner asked if this <br /> is something we should continue doing. Discussion ensued and consensus is to <br /> contact the art teacher at the Pequot Lakes High School regarding continuing this <br /> project. <br /> 9. Next Meetinq <br /> The next Park Commission meeting will be July 9, 2020. Chair Ronning inquired <br /> as to who will all be able to attend. All Commissioner's in attendance will be at <br /> the July 9, 2020 as of today. <br /> 10. Other Business <br /> Chair Ronning stated he received a letter requesting pickleball courts in Pequot <br /> Lakes. Discussion ensued regarding location possibilities and interest. Chair <br />
