EDC Minutes <br />May 19, 2009 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />11-1.1 ------------------- - - - - -- <br />that if we understood market place better, we may find that the trend is toward <br />elderly people. <br />Discussion was held regarding the highway issue and the effect this may have on <br />the businesses closing. <br />Adeel suggested that current retailers must be well versed in e- commerce <br />businesses. He stated that there are workshops available to assist in this issue. <br />As a recap of this discussion the following issues were identified by the EDC: <br />• Determine what the EDC can do to identify priorities; <br />• Market Area Profile — (U of M Extension); <br />• Health Care Profile — (U of M Extension); <br />• Workshops to help local businesses; <br />• Leadership Training to get all community members working together and <br />to help the community to continue to move forward <br />Sheila Haverkamp suggested that Adeel Ahmud come to the next EDC meeting <br />with a proposal for some of the programs that have been discussed. <br />5. BLADC Report <br />Sheila Haverkamp noted that BLADC will give a Small Cities update at the next <br />EDC meeting. She also noted that she would have an update on some creative <br />marketing ideas and on the 2020 program. <br />6. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held June 16, at 8:00 a.m. — Cole Memorial Building. <br />Chair Larsen suggested having meetings at different business locations. <br />7. Other Business: <br />There was no other business. <br />8.
