PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT MINUTES OF THE MAY 6, 2009 The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 23 members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by Wendt, second by Varilek, motion passed. Truck and equipment checks will be discussed a new way tonight. Minor details will not be mentioned, only important information will be discussed. All trucks and equipment were Ok tonight. Tanker 2 is still in South Dakota. Tanker 3 did have an outdated fire extinguisher. Daren and Jeremie filled and dated all gasoline cans tonight. The financial report was next. The fire budget has a present balance of approximately $105,573.00. Our checking account new balance tonight is $8269.77. During the month we purchased pop for $44.02. The scholarship fund balance is $1300.65. Casanova motioned to approve the report, second by Cerise, motion passed. We received a thank you note from SADD for participating in the mock car accident. The safety topic is to always have your turnout gear at incidents and wear it. If you do not have your gear, please leave the scene. Also there is no private gear allowed at any incidents we have. Safety awareness for the Hurst tool is to always check all bolts and hose connections to be sure they are tight. Practice accountability when ever you can. Always clean up and check all cars that we use for Hurst tool practice. Make sure they are safe to be hauled away by the tow truck. Clean up all messes at the fire hall. Be on time for meetings. Do not talk on the radios when personnel are inside structures during incidents. There is no need for unnecessary radio chat. Look at maps before leaving the hall for an incident response if you are not sure where it is. Also do not leave the fire hall after a call until all work and clean up is completed. The construction project for the new office needs the drywall all installed and mudded. There will be a work night next Wednesday, May 13, at 6:30 pm. The furnace for the new training room and office needs to have the installation completed. There will be a work day for that on Saturday, May 23. Tanker 2 is ready to be picked up from the factory. There is some one from the Breezy Point area who may be able to fly us over there if we pay for fuel. Only RIT personnel may attend RIT calls. Also we need the training topic and time for each RIT meeting roll sheet. Scott Warner is working on a list of basic equipment that we may need for confined space incidents. L
