Peq�a <br /> e�� <br /> NEW BUSINF.SS—INT'ERNAL SIGNAGE PROPOSAL <br /> Application: Internal Sign Plan <br /> Applicant: Crow Wing County <br /> A,genda Item: 6 (b) <br /> Background Information: Crow Wing County is making improvements to the <br /> former DNR Fire Tower property located at 523o County Road il, creating a <br /> public park. They recently received a Land Use Permit to construct a picnic <br /> shelter and a SSTS Permit for a vaulted restroom. <br /> They plan to erect a 2i square foot sign at the entrance to the park. The sign <br /> would be a single-sided, sandblasted cedar sign. <br /> The County also proposes internal signage that will provide directions and <br /> historical information regarding firefighting operations and fire tower history. <br /> The internal signage will be placed in wooded areas not visible from the road. <br /> The exact location for these signs is unknown at this time, but general placement <br /> would be a main sign by the parking lot, signage along the main trail and the <br /> tower, as well as a signs west of the tower ne� to the old foundations. As <br /> additional improvements are made, more signs may become necessary. <br /> Examples of the proposed signs are attached. These examples are photographs of <br /> existing signs at the Milford Mine Park, also a County-owned park. <br /> Applicable Regulations: <br /> Section 17-7.1 SIGNS <br /> 4. General. <br /> F. No signs, except for official traffic signs, shall be placed on or <br /> overhang public property, except where specific permission is <br /> granted by the Planning Commission. <br /> Staff Findings: Staff provides the following Findings of Fact for consideration <br /> by the Planning Commission: <br /> i.
