AGENDA ITEM # 9.3
c:y of
Pequot
Lakes = --
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Jason Gorr— Public Works Director
Date: February 4, 2020
Subiect: Collaborative Road Project Update
Report: City Staff have been working with the City of Breezy Point, Ideal
Township, and Jenkins Township in an effort to coordinate efforts on shared and
adjoining road improvements needed in the near future. Specific needs discussed
include overall condition / need/ potential funding for Akerson Road, Buschmann
Road, Nelson Road, and Wild Acres Road. We have met twice as a group and in
the second meeting invited and communicated with Crow Wing County (CWC)
Engineering Staff.
With guidance from CWC and in an effort to optimize funding potential it was
recommended to have a Feasibility Study done to not only identify improvements
needed for city road standards, but comparatively to county state aid road
standards. If done to the County standards, the County Highway Engineer Tim
Bray stated he would endorse the County consider taking over ownership of these
roads. It was discussed and agreed how those improved roads would be considered
a definite benefit to the County in their interconnective corridors. This would of
course involve final decision from the CWC Board.
We are in the process of drafting a request for proposal for the Collaborative Road
Project which will come before the City Council at a future meeting for your
consideration.
Council Action Requested: No Council action requested.
