M
Maintenance Department Monthly Report
March 2009
With weather conditions during the past few weeks consisting of
snowmelt, heavy rains, and frozen ground there has been some flooding
problems in the City. Some have been repaired while others are being
looked at for a short term remedy to give staff time to develop a permanent
solution.
The South Oak Street project bids were opened on Tuesday and were
surprisingly lower than expected. We are hoping to capitalize on the current
construction cost climate by adding a few extra projects this year. With the
capital outlay funds carried over from 2008 along with the 2009 budgeted
capital outlay funds we hope to complete a few projects on the five -year
road plan. I will be bringing forward a list of proposed projects soon for
review by Council.
Along with the current problems at the wastewater treatment ponds we
are also trying to catch up on repairs that have been put off. We need to
. rebuild one of the catch basins and completely replace another one located in
the dike between the two ponds.
Meetings Attended
Mar 3 -5 City Safety Committee
Staff Meeting
Mar 9
Monthly Department Budget
Mar 12
Trailside Water Main Issues
Pre Construction Bid Meeting for South Oak Street Project
Park Board
Mar 17
EDC — City Planning
Mar 25
Library Construction
Mar 26
371 Sub - Committee
Mar 30
Group MMUA Safety Training
Mar 31
South Oak Street Project Bid Opening
