`., City of AGENDA ITEM #9.A.1 <br /> Pequott <br /> Lakes: -- <br /> REPORT TO <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> Date: March 3, 2009 <br /> Subject: Utility Disconnection Policy <br /> Report: In the past, the procedure for disconnection of a <br /> water utility due to past due accounts has been very <br /> inconsistent. There have been instances when a customer <br /> was up to five months past due. If the customer called to <br /> request a payment schedule, a small payment was made <br /> which was not enough to get them out of the past due cycle. <br /> Customers would continually receive disconnect notices <br /> and then make a minimal payment just to keep from being <br /> disconnected. <br /> The proposed policy requires that the entire past due <br /> amount be paid prior to disconnect. The policy does allow <br /> an additional month to pay the entire past due amount <br /> before a disconnection will occur if requested and granted <br /> by the Public Works Supervisor. <br /> �., Council Action Requested: Council motion approving the <br /> attached water utility disconnect policy. <br />
