City of MEMO
Pequott
Lakes=.=-
TO: Mayor Adams and City Council Members
FROM: Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator
DATE: January 27, 2009
RE: Sub-Surface Sewage Treatment System (SSTS)
Compliance
Minnesota Rules Chapter 7082 requires local units of government
to have an inspection program to enforce compliance requirements
of septic systems.
Staff recently determined along the east side of Sibley Lake from
unimproved Eastman Avenue (between Brown Street and West
Lake Street) south to the end of Pequot Blvd. that only 28% of the
existing SSTS within the shoreland area (1,000 feet from the
OHW) were compliant. That does not necessarily mean the rest
are failing or are eminent health threats. Compliance Inspections
would determine those that need to be repaired or replaced.
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
dbittner a,pequotlakes-mn.gov
218-568-6699
