PEQUOT LAKES AREA FIRE BOARD <br /> MEETING MINUTES JULY 31,2019 <br /> The second quarter meeting of the PLAFB was called to order by Chairman Peterson.The minutes of <br /> the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Bartels, second by Ryan, motion passed. <br /> The fire call report was discussed.There were 20 calls during the second quarter. By types,there <br /> were 5 hazardous condition calls,4 grass/brush fires, 3 alarm malfunctions,3 elevator assists,2 <br /> mutual aid structure fires, 1 structure fire, 1 outdoor vehicle fire,and 1 power transformer fire. By <br /> location,there were 10 calls to Breezy Point, 6 to Pequot Lakes, 1 to Jenkins Township, 1 to Poplar <br /> Township, 1 to Pine River,and 1 to Nisswa. Last year there were 21 calls during this period. <br /> The training report totaled 18 hours. By types,there were 4 hours Captain'choice,4 hours fire hall <br /> maintenance/remodeling,4 hours wildland fires/pump operation, 3 hours drug awareness for Crow <br /> Wing County, and 3 hours pump engine/tanker water shuttle. Captain's choice is whatever the <br /> Captain of one of our four squads thinks his team needs training on. <br /> The second quarter financial report was discussed.The Department received a $11,000.00 donation <br /> from a Fargo/Morehead corporation that was not expected.We used this donation to purchase a <br /> new pump/skid unit for our ne brush truck.The capital outlay on the expenditures portion of the <br /> report was over 295%due to our remodeling project for our fire hall storage room.The Fire <br /> Department will reimburse the Fire Fund for most of this cost using our funds. Bartels motioned to <br /> approve the report, second by Dubay, motion passed. <br /> The second quarter personnel/operations report was next on the agenda.The Department <br /> participated with the Breezy Point fly in event and the annual Safety Town program for our local <br /> children. Our 2019 scholarship was awarded to Kenzie Nelson.We purchased a new pump/skid unit <br /> for our new brush truck using the donation from the Fargo/Morehead corporation.We applied for a <br /> matching DNR grant to help fund purchasing wild land fire turn-out gear. A new gas grill was <br /> purchased to replace a older grill to help with our annual pancake breakfast.Trevor Lang and Dusty <br /> Zeimet repainted the fire bell in front of City Hall. A local girl scouts organization donated several <br /> boxes of cookies to our Department. <br /> Our fire hall remodeling project is almost complete.All our turnout gear lockers have been <br /> relocated to be closer to our trucks.Walls have been repainted to match new steel wall sheeting <br /> used in the construction.A new 8 foot by 10 foot wall plaque was installed in the central area of our <br /> service area. New doors and a separation wall were installed to separate our storage and meeting <br /> rooms. <br /> Our annual July 4th pancake breakfast was well attended with 1557 people. Chief Nelson designed a <br /> new format for our breakfast event utilizing our additional hall space we gained when our City <br /> maintenance department moved out of our location. Plans are in progress for ways to improved our <br /> 2020 breakfast. <br /> There was no old/unfinished business to discuss.The new restaurant/bar building in Jenkins is still <br /> not open. Plans were to open by July 4th.The owners have been involved with some other business <br />
