Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
`.. December 30, 2008
So far for the month of December the Department has logged more than 400 individual ICRs. Year to
date we have process approximately 150 more cases than in 2007. Compared to other recent years,
this is equal to 1.5 times the number of case in 2006, 2.5 times the number of cases in 2005 and 3.5
times the number of cases in 2004.
Current Activities:
The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers conducted more than 375 individual business and home
security checks so far throughout the month, with only 1 open door found.
The Department once again participated in the Christmas for Kids program in our local area and
assisted other area law enforcement personnel with making deliveries to area needy families.
Participating this year from our Dept were Officers Gartner, Petersen and Reserve Officer Ryan
assisting while in full uniform. Reserve Officers Borleis and Wedan were both Santa and Jarosh was
Mrs. Clause. Office Mgr Wedan was a reindeer and her mother also assisted for the first time as an Elf.
Training:
Officer Gartner provided Snowmobile Safety training for members of the Reserve Unit that will use the
Dept snowmobile to assist the Dept with home security checks during the winter months. This will allow
them to check on lake homes from the lakeside of properties, besides from the street side, especially
for remote homes or for properties with unplowed driveways. Also, in an effort to help prevent theft and
vandalism, they will be able to use the sled to check on area fish houses.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jerry Braam
Chief of Police
