AGENDA ITEM #8.1
Cfty Of
Pequot
Lales =
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Jen Anderson, PLPD Office Manager
Date: July 2, 2019
Subiect: National Night Out
ReAort: The Pequot Lakes Police Department is thrilled to be hosting our 4tn
Annual National Night Out. This year's event will be on Tuesday, August 6t'' from
5:00-8:00 p.m. at Trailside Park. This community oriented event continues to grow
and gain popularity each year and brings together the police department with local
businesses and residents of Pequot Lakes and Jenkins.
We will again be partnering with SuperValu, who will be donating hot dogs, buns,
chips, pop, condiments and napkins as well as the use of their grill. We have also
secured a donation from Costco in Baxter for two pallets of bottled water. As in
years past, Community Action of Pequot Lakes and the Miss Pequot Lakes Royalty
will be volunteering to cook and serve food as well as supervise the bounce house.
Thus far, we have secured the use of the Cuyuna Range Fire Chiefs Association's
bounce house as well as the Pequot Lakes Fire Department's "Safe House" trailer,
which will be set up and run by the PLFD. Our regular musician, Tim Eggebratten
is unavailable this year. On his recommendation, we have booked "Bruce and Tiki
D" to take his place and we are excited to welcome this new act. As last year, we
will have the Water Wars game, two face painters, and Hudson the Magician.
We will be sending out sponsor letters and fliers to local business in the next 1-2
weeks and also inserts advertising the event in the July utility bills.
Council Action Requested: Council motion supporting the 4th Annual National
Night Out event on August 6t'' in Trailside Park.
