City Council Minutes <br /> Apri12, 2019 <br /> Page4of6 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Mayor Tayloe and Council Member Swanson noted they would like to wait until <br /> June to see if Jerry Akerson retums to the Council as the timeframe befinreen <br /> now and then is so short. <br /> Council Member Pederson noted his concem that there is no guarantee as to <br /> when Mr. Akerson will retum. <br /> Council Member Swanson questioned if Jerry Akerson does not come back in <br /> June does he have to resign. Nancy Malecha stated the Council could declare a <br /> vacancy and appoint a temporary office holder to fill Mr. Akerson's seat until he <br /> retums unless he resigns. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO TABLE THIS ITEM UNTIL THE <br /> MAY CITY COUNCIL MEETING. MAYOR TAYLOE SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 10.2. Gas Franchise Ordinances <br /> Nancy Malecha noted that at the March 5�' City Council Meeting, the consensus <br /> of the Council agreed to proceed with the gas franchise and franchise fee <br /> ordinances with a $1 per month per customer franchise fee and further <br /> designated the first year of franchise fee revenue to the Parks Department. She <br /> further noted that presented tonight are these ordinances for Council approval. <br /> Council Member Pederson questioned how much revenue this will generate for <br /> the City per year. Ms. Malecha stated it will be approximately$11,000 per year <br /> and the revenue designation can be changed every year. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 19-04 <br /> GRANTING NORTHERN STATES POWER COMPANY PERMISSION TO <br /> ERECT A GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES. <br /> MAYOR TAYLOE SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> MAYOR TAYLOE MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 19-05 IMPLEMENTING A <br /> GAS SERVICE FRANCHISE FEE ON NORTHERN STATES POWER <br /> COMPANY FOR PROVIDING GAS SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF PEQUOT <br /> LAKES. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> Nancy Malecha explained a summary publication cannot be acted on as it <br /> requires a 4/5�'vote of the Council and there are only three Council Members in <br /> attendance. <br /> 10.3. Recaion 5 Children's Museum Site Selection Reauest for Proposal <br /> Nancy Malecha informed the Council that about a month ago she was contacted <br /> by two representatives from the Region 5 Children's Museum Board of Directors <br /> to discuss potential sites for a Children's Museum somewhere within Region 5 <br />
