PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 1, 2010 MEETING The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 26 members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Evenson, second by Hayes, motion passed. Truck and equipment checks followed. Engine 1 and 2 were good. Tanker 1 needs a clamp for a tire, tanker 2's mounted pump is leaking oil from the rear exhaust port, and tanker 3 is OK. The water tender is OK. Rescue 1 and 2 are both good. The ATV and trailer are also good. The ice rescue suits are all OK and the zippers need to be waxed. The financial report lists our new checking balance tonight at $11536.89. During the month we paid $84.53 for pop, 83.25 for fire prevention food, and 100.00 for pizzas for the house burn. Deposits were $23.00 from Dave Ackerman for sausage, and 50.00 from Kate Petersen for the police training held at our training room. The scholarship fund balance is $2451.65. Fire fighters owing the department are Dusty $11.00, Tim 21.00, Brian 12.5 0, and Larry 23.00. The fire budget balance is about $100,000 after paying wages of about $31,000. We just received about $5000.00 in fire hose. We purchased blue hose for a crosslay for Engine 2, so now our crosslay hoses will be red and blue, which are easier to tell apart than red and orange. Evenson motioned to approve the financial report, second by Wendt, motion passed. �-' The safety topic tonight is to be careful driving on icy roads. Fire trucks take a lot longer to stop than your car our pickup. Neil went through all our trucks and picked up junk from the floor and under the seats. The air packs are all high pressure now and should be all done by Friday. All the masks and air packs have all the same connections. The numbers of the packs are organized better and each truck has consecutive numbers for the packs. We need to decide what to do with our old tanks. The old steel tanks can be used for our air bags and need to be labeled as such. Our personnel comes first if they want any old tanks for their own use. We also need to update our SOG for the new air packs. The Chief asked if anyone has seen old air pack #11, which has disappeared. Neil repaired the tank leak on tanker 2 with epoxy. Mike Schwankl spent a lot of time on Rescue 2 repairing the wiring. We commend these two for a job well done. The gentleman from the ISO was here and went over all our paperwork. The results will take about 6 months to see if we passed and our rate will be lowered. Tom thinks we will pass because this area's fire departments work well together. The City has asked us to watch our water draining into the drains inside the garage. It is a chore to pump the water out of the sump tank. They are not concerned about our normal use of water and just want us to be responsible.
