CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION �9-�g <br /> A RESOLUTION REQUESTING CROW WING COUNTY TO ADMINISTER <br /> THE MINNESOTA WETI.AND CONSERVATION AG"r OF�99� <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Pequot Lakes and the Crow Wing Soil &Water Conservation <br /> District previously held an Agreement designating the administration of the Minnesota <br /> Wetland Conservation Act of i99i to the Crow Wing Soil&Water Conservation District <br /> titled a Resolution Regarding the Administration of the Wetland Act of i99i that was <br /> adopted by the City of Pequot Lakes; and, <br /> WHEREAS,under the previous agreement the Crow Wing Soil&Water Conservation <br /> District agreed to assume administrative responsibility for implementing the rules and <br /> regulations promulgated by the Board of Water and Soil Resources pertaining to <br /> wetland draining,filling and excavation for applications received within the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes on behalf of the City of Pequot Lakes; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Crow Wing Soil&Water Conservation District notified the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes on January 22, 20�9 that the Crow Wing Soil&Water Conservation <br /> District Board of Supervisors voted to terminate the Agreement delegating <br /> administration of the Wetland Conservation Act to the Soil&Water Conservation <br /> District effective March 31, 20�9; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of this notification the City of Pequot Lakes and other area <br /> Local Government Units no longer have the necessary resources in place to respond to <br /> wetland applications received within their city limits; and <br /> WHEREAS, area Local Government Units within Crow Wing County feel that the most <br /> important asset in the Brainerd Lakes Area is our natural resources and that all forms of <br /> government should ensure that our natural resources are preserved and safeguarded <br /> with the utmost care; and <br /> WHEREAS, area Local Government Units within Crow Wing County seek to find a <br /> resolution for the preservation and safeguarding of our natural resources through a <br /> consistent and logical approach to administering the Minnesota Wetland Conservation <br /> Act of�991; and <br /> WHEREAS, Crow Wing County currently provides administration services of the <br /> Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act of i99i for its Highway Department and County <br /> Townships and has qualified staff capable to perform these services; and <br /> WHEREAS, area Local Government Units within Crow Wing County feel that Crow <br /> Wing County is in the best position to administer the Minnesota Wetland Conservation <br /> 1 <br />
