SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />INTERCULTURAL DEVELOPMENT INVENTORY GROUP PROFILE REPORT <br />THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2018 <br /> <br /> <br />Attendance and Introductions <br />EDC Members: Chris Lindholm. Jon Lubke. Sheila Holley. Katie Wassermann. Amy Sjoblad. Cindy <br />Rieck and Siri. Region Five Development Commission: Cheryal Hills, Dawn Espe, and Stacy Headlee. <br />Mark Jurchen arrived at the conclusion of the meeting. <br /> <br />Definitions <br />Diversity Mix of differences <br />Mindset Habit <br />World View Overall perspective <br />Inclusion Action or state of including with group, differences are valued. <br />Intercultural Competence Degree in which we experience commonalities and differences. <br />Organizational Structure Unconsciously how the group functions as an organization (culture). <br />Culture More than just race and gender, i.e., poverty, veterans, etc. <br /> <br />Group Exercise <br />Completed Cultural Values and Beliefs questionnaire, which illustrated the differences within our group. <br /> <br />Intercultural Development Continuum <br />Ranging from Monocultural to Intercultural mindset. Orientations include: denial, polarization, <br />minimization, acceptance, and adaption. Refer to page 4 of the Group Profile Report for definitions and <br />details. <br /> <br />EDC Group Profile Report <br /> Report includes responses from 9 individuals <br /> EDC group perceived orientation = Acceptance with score of 118.90. <br /> EDC actual development orientation based on the IDI responses = Minimization, score of 89.66. <br />70% of all groups that have completed the IDI are in the Minimization stage. <br /> EDC orientation gap = 29.24 points. Average is 30 points. <br /> Refer to pages 6-12 for details. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br /> Meet as a group within 2 weeks and set goals. <br /> Each individual may contact Dawn Espe at 218.894.3233 x3 or despe@regionfive.com for a <br />confidential review and interpretation of individual IDI results. <br /> RFDC will forward additional information regarding action steps. <br /> Celebration with all groups that took the IDI (through the grant) will be on 10/29/19 in the <br />evening. <br /> <br />Feedback <br /> Chris suggested incorporate the initial definitions into the discussion. <br /> Chris suggested put more emphasis on the goal of the activity of illustrating differences. <br /> Amy suggested to provide reading materials or pre-work before the group report meeting.
