They created a <br /> group who focused on communication to bridge all these things. <br /> Ms. Hennies further explained the Hiking, Biking and Trail activities, resources <br /> and usage of these assets. <br /> Molly Zins stated that the Committee has partnered up with Dr. Ed Brands, <br /> Professor from the University of Minnesota Moms, in regards to research for <br /> assessing the needs of the community and what our resources are in the area as <br /> of now and assisting with grant writing. They are planning #o prepare a survey to <br /> disseminate to the community regarding a recreation n�eds assessment within a <br /> 10 mile radius of Pequot Lakes. <br /> Chair Ronning read an email from Haley Perkins. Ms. Perkins is from Northland <br /> College and is seeking information on recreational infrastructure data on <br /> communities across the region to create a comprehensive North Woods Assets <br /> and Amenities public database. Chair Ronning will share Ms. Per�kins' cantact <br /> information with the Quality of Life Task Force. <br /> The Quality of Life Task Force would like to collaborate with the Park <br /> Commission for assistance in creating a database of recreationat amenities to <br /> � facilitate the survey process to determine the recreational needs within the <br /> community. Chair Ronning stated that it is a great idea to join up to get the data <br /> collected. A consensus of the Park Commission concurred. <br /> 6. Trailside Park Projeet <br /> Nancy Malecha described the updated map for the Trailside Park Phase I <br /> Project. Ms. Malecha displayed the color scheme and samples for the multi- <br /> purpose building. Commission discussion ensued regarding the Project. <br /> 7. Disc Golf Course <br /> Commissioner Johnson visited the Disc Golf Course in Breezy Point. He spoke <br /> with 8ryant Szymanski regarding the course, their parcel of land is on 50 acres, <br /> the front 9 took 3 years to build, and the back 9 took about 5 months. The cost to <br /> create this course was approximately$20,000 for materials only and to contract <br /> this out would cost approximately$150,000. A consensus of the Commission <br /> agreed to table the idea of a Disc Golf Course in Pequot Lakes. <br /> 8. Mavo Lake Nature Preserve <br /> Dawn Bittner stated the Central Lakes Rotary Club planted 75 trees at the Mayo <br /> � Lake Nature Preserve. The City Council recognized organizers Keith Simar and <br /> the Central Lakes Rotary Club along with volunteers at their June 5, 2018 <br /> meeting. <br />
