STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to study the feasibility of making roadway improvements to North
Sluetter Road on the west City Limits of the City of Pequot Lakes.
The area studied is shown in Exhibit A.
This existing gravel road is on the City Limit line with Loon Lake Township in Cass County. The
City and Township switch summer and winter maintenance every other year on this road.
At the August 3, 2010 Pequot Lakes City Council meeting, the Council voted to move forward
with the preparation of a report on possible paving and related improvements to the road
between County Road 168 on the south and the intersection with Wildlife Trail on the north.
At the September 7, 2010 Pequot Lakes City Council meeting, the Council, in accordance with
State statutes relating to specially assessed local improvement projects and City policies,
authorized Widseth Smith Nolting to prepare a feasibility report on said improvements.
The above actions were in conjunction with a study of roadway improvements to Wildlife Trail.
This report will address existing conditions, proposed improvements, estimated project costs,
and project implementation such as to advise the City Council in a preliminary way as to
whether the proposed improvements are necessary, cost - effective, and feasible; whether these
improvements should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other
improvement; the estimated costs of the improvements; and a description of the methodology
used to calculate individual special assessments for affected parcels.
Pequot Lakes — North Sluetter Road Improvements Study
WSN No. 0130130045,000
Page 1
