SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2018 �� <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Akerson, Loukota, <br /> Pederson, and Swanson <br /> Staff Present: Nancy Malecha, City Administrator; Deb Marty, City <br /> Clerk/Treasurer; Matt Jorgens, Police Officer; Kate Petersen, <br /> Police Officer; Ryan Franz, Police Officer; Lance Ray, <br /> Maintenance Worker; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Specialist; Chad <br /> Turcotte, Police Sergeant; Eric Klang, Police Chief; and <br /> Tessia Melvin, David Drown Associates <br /> 1. Call Meetinp to Order <br /> Mayor Adams called the Special Meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council <br /> to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> 1.1. Pledge of Alleqiance <br /> Mayor Adams led with the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> 2, Consider Aqenda <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA <br /> AS PRESENTED. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 3. Job Classification & Compensation Studv Report <br /> Tessia Melvin from David Drown Associates updated the Council on the <br /> job classification & compensation study methodology and process to date. <br /> Ms. Melvin noted that surveys were distributed to the benchmark <br /> communities, market analysis information was compiled, and pay equity <br /> reporting requirements were considered. Job positions within the City <br /> were then analyzed based on the following components: education and <br /> experience, problem solving, decision making, implementing and creating <br /> policies, conditions of work environment and hazards, and mental and <br /> physical efforts. Total compensation including benefits was also taken <br /> into consideration. Ms. Melvin further noted that the next steps to the <br /> study process will include the scheduling of employee group meetings, <br /> labor negotiation meetings will occur, and City Council approval will be <br /> requested. She further explained the employee and municipal services <br /> data tables for the benchmark communities. <br />
