CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES RESOLUTION 18- RESOLUTION ADOPTING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has granted municipalities the authority to pian in Minnesota Statute 462.358; and WHEREAS, in Minnesota Statute 462.3535 the State of Minnesota has encouraged municipalities to prepare and implement a community-based comprehensive plan; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 462.351 indicates that by preparing a comprehensive plan, the City of Pequot Lakes can prepare for anticipated changes and by such bring about significant savings in both private and public expenditures; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 462.351 indicates that municipal planning will assist in developing lands more wisely to serve citizens more effectively, will make the provision of public services less costly and will achieve a more secure tax base and that these are goals of the City of Pequot Lakes; and WHEREAS, the City of Pequot Lakes held seven public meetings and contacted over twenty city and community groups and lake associations to solicit public comments in the preparation of a comprehensive plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Pequot Lakes has met the requirements of State Statute 462.355, Subdivision 2 by holding a public hearing on the proposed comprehensive plan that was noticed in the official newspaper of the municipality at least ten days prior to the hearing; and WHEREAS, a quorum of the City of Pequot Lakes Planning Commission attended the public hearing and received the written and verbal comments of interested parties; and WHEREAS, the City of Pequot Lakes Planning Commission on September 20, 2018 recommended the adoption of the comprehensive plan; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes has received the Planning Commission's recommendation. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes hereby adopts the City of Pequot Lakes Comprehensive Plan
