MINUTES <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION/ <br /> BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> October i8, 2oi8 <br /> PRESENT: Andrew Birch, Mark Hallan, Laura Larson, Nathan Norton, and Wesley <br /> Wilson. ABSENT: Christopher Savino. <br /> CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, Sourcewell <br /> ZONING SPECIALIST: Dawn Bittner <br /> COUNCIL LIAISON: Scott Peterson. <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Hallan at 6:0o PM. <br /> A motion was made by Planning Commission Member Birch, seconded by <br /> Planning Commission Member Wilson,to open the Public Hearings. All <br /> members voted"aye", Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: <br /> APPLICANrS: Eric and Laura Larson <br /> Applicants request a Variance to Construct Guest Quarters on an <br /> Undersized Lot <br /> Mr. Burslie explained the Staff Report. Applicants were present. Mr. Burslie noted the <br /> letter of support received from Rolf and Joan Mahlberg, neighbors of the Larson's. <br /> Chair Hallan inquired about the pole barn encroachment. Mr. Larson stated they had <br /> the property surveyed after they purchased it and discovered the encroachment. He is <br /> worlang with the neighbors to purchase property. Chair Hallan stated the Planning <br /> Commission would prefer a straight line rather than a bump to make the pole barn <br /> conforming. <br /> Mr. Burslie stated the City has not received any comments from the DNR. The City <br /> specifically asked for comment as this is a unique request and does not meet DNR <br /> requirements. When asked, Mr. Burslie stated the City is able to supersede the DNR <br /> Rules as long as the request meets the Variance criteria. <br /> Chair Hallan questioned the lot width at the location of the proposed new structure.
