NEWS RELEASE Minnesota Wastewater Operators Association For release August 4, 2010 Contact: Steve Duerre, (651) 757 -2318 MINNESOTA WASTEWATER OPERATORS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS "OPERATOR OF THE YEAR" AWARDS The Minnesota Wastewater Operators Association (MWOA) recently awarded "Operator of the Year" awards at its annual meeting in Grand Rapids. The competitive awards are presented in categories of Wastewater Operator (Class A, B, C, and D), Collection System, Laboratory, Maintenance, and "Rookie of the Year ". For 2010 the winner of the Class C Wastewater Operator Award was Tina Nolden from Pequot Lakes. Winners of awards meet criteria of excellence in: job performance, accomplishments, awards, education and training undertaken to further their performance, professional, community and civic activities, and involvement in the advancement of the MWOA. The MWOA is divided into six sections within Minnesota. The first step in the awards process is for each section to select candidates for awards from within their membership. The winners from each section (Holden was nominated in the Central Section) then enter statewide competition. Each candidate submits an application packet which is distributed to representatives from each section. Awards are then voted on, and the winners are announced at the Annual Meeting in July. This year's meeting was held in Grand Rapids. Robert VanMoer, President of MWOA presented Nolden with a plaque during the awards banquet held to honor each winner.
