City Council Minutes <br />August 17, 2010 <br />Page 9 of 11 <br />---------------------- - - - - -- <br />would be the increase in the cost of health insurance included as part <br />of the increase in the salaries. <br />The Council suggested including a 2% wage increase for employees in <br />the preliminary budget and to note that this amount includes a benefit <br />from the insurance (the Council's increase in the insurance premium). <br />• Levy Increase <br />The Clerk noted that the preliminary levy presented to the Council <br />shows a 10.69% increase from the 2010 levy. <br />Nancy Malecha noted that LGA is not included in the budget. Nancy <br />Malecha stated that the preliminary budget also reflects an additional <br />$35,000 in revenue in anticipation of a levy settle ment/MVHC <br />shortfall. <br />BUDGET ACTION ITEMS: <br />`' • Planning and Zoning <br />Dawn to provide the difference in cost and duties between levels 1 and <br />2 of the Community Growth contract and to consider what the impact <br />would be on planning and zoning if the level of service was reduced to <br />level 1. <br />Council Member Ryan requested Dawn to provide the statistics on the <br />number and type of permits that have been issued and applied for over <br />the past 3 to 4 years. <br />• Police <br />Cut approximately $100,000 from the Police Budget. Also consider the <br />possibility of additional revenue from contracting with other cities or <br />townships. <br />The Council requested Nancy Malecha to figure the actual cost in <br />wages and benefits for Officer Petersen to be in the school. <br />• Civil Defense <br />
