Ms. Moore asked if the owners are going to have the opportunity to vote to build the <br />lodge amenities. Mr. Marohn stated the amenities are required to be built. Ms. Moore <br />stated not all of the owners are willing to spend $10,000 on something that may never be <br />completed. <br />Mr. Marohn suggested scheduling a Design Review Team meeting to discuss some of <br />these issues. Staff to review at DRT: <br />1. Discomfort where lodge and pool are located; <br />2. Pool and lodge will need to be built where 6 cabins are now located. Where it is <br />shown it will not work. Six units can't be kept there. <br />A motion was made by Tom Adams, seconded by Mark Hallan, to table this matter. All <br />members voted "aye ". Sketch Plan Review — Horse Expo <br />Mr. Marohn explained the impervious coverage discussion from the Crafters Mall. Mrs. <br />Myers plans to use the existing buildings and add an arena and parking. Brenda Myers <br />and Sean Kaneski were present. Mr. Kaneski explained that Mrs. Myers wants to create a <br />regional equestrian facility with 3 to 4 day shows. Parking will be event driven. There <br />are not a lot of spectators at equestrian events. Rodeos would have more spectators. She <br />does not intend this to be a boarding or training facility. <br />Mr. Marohn explained the two big buildings would stay and a new arena would be built. <br />When asked, Mrs. Myers stated the existing buildings would be used for warm -up and <br />stalls. Neither building is large enough for a competition arena. The new building would <br />be 150' X 300, clear span steel structure. They will retain the retention ponds and move <br />the parking over to the new location. <br />When it was a Crafter Mall, the in and out traffic was a problem; that is not an issue here. <br />Some facilities do have camping but that is not planned here. <br />Minutes 14 <br />Pequot Lakes Planning Commission <br />July 17, 2010 <br />
