Harly Simchuck - This is taking place a day late.
L
Mr. Marohn explained E = excluded on the Matrix. Staff was directed last month to
bring back an ordinance amendment. If that was determined to be the case, Animal
Boarding would be excluded in the Rural Residential zone.
Bonnie Olson - concerned with a traffic problem. These are rural residential lots with a
dog kennel in the area. It is a business and is commercial. We are homes. Disappointed
in outcome.
Chairman Woog requested public comment to be in regard to this public hearing, not the
previous one.
George Selvestra - Asked how many days to appeal the decision? Mr. Marohn stated he
didn't know exactly, but it would be made at City Hall and heard at the; City Council.
Kevin Littman - Stated he liked the public process but it is unfortunate that we are
considering a change to exclude Dog Boarding in the Rural Residential zone and it took
the previous hearing to come to this. This will protect other Rural Residential
homeowners. He is disappointed that this couldn't have been done earlier. There are
plenty of other locations for dog boarding.
Mr. Marohn explained that this ordinance was adopted in 2005. When the City and
`- Township merged in 2002, we merged the codes. Over time, the City drafted the current
code. If the Garland's CUP is suspended or revoked, they cannot reapply under an
amended code.
Public Comment closed.
Mr. Hallan asked if there are other kennels within the City. Mr. Marohn stated there are
not. Mr. Hallan asked if Animal Boarding includes horses.
A motion was made by Scott Pederson, seconded by Mark Hallan, to table this matter.
All members voted "aye ". Motion carried.
APPLICANT: Wilderness Resort Villas, LLC
Applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Jeff Miller and Tom Steffens were present.
Public comment opened:
Beverly Miller, 6655 Wilderness Road - It is unclear, is the resort going away and if it is
not, is it going to function as a resort? Will the buildings be occupied or for lease?
Minutes 10
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
July 17, 2010
