Park Commission Minutes
June 10, 2010
Page 2
------------------- - - - - --
4. 2011 Park Budget
The Clerk discussed the future 2011 park budget. The Commission talked
about future projects. One project that was discussed was irrigation of the
Cole Memorial land. The Commission suggested that Mike Loven get
quotes and include this project in the 2011 budget.
The Commission discussed the playground that is being planned for
Trailside Park. It was not clear if this would be paid for by donations or by
City Funds. It was suggested that this be discussed at the next Park
Commission meeting.
It was the consensus of the Park Commission to increase the Bands in the
Park Funds in 2011 to $6,000.
5. Updates:
A. Band Shelter
Fund raising is almost complete. The band shelter will be built this
year.
L
B. Paul Bunvan Chair
Pete Clement said that the Paul Bunyan Chair and benches would
be refinished next Tuesday. Discussion was held about plantings at
the Cole Memorial Building. Faye said she would pick out the
bushes and Mike Loven said his crew would plant them.
Faye informed the Park Commission that Chris Tweed would not be
charging for the signs for the Cole Memorial Building. The Park
Commission suggested sending him a thank you for all he has
done with the park signage.
C. Chokecherry Trees
The project has been completed. The City crew has planted
approximately 90 trees around the downtown area.
6. Other Business
Discussion was held regarding the lack of use of the picnic shelter. The
Commission stated that they would like to find a way to entice people to
`-- use it more. Signage was suggested. It was also suggested that if the
lumber company had a different place to park, the City could blacktop the
lot and use it for parking for the picnic shelter.
