Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
June 29t`', 2010
I`--.
Currently for the month of June the Department has logged more than 560 individual ICRs.
Current Activities:
So far for the month, the Reserves and Fulltime Officers have conducted 1270 individual security
checks of businesses and homes throughout the month, with only 2 open doors found at area
businesses.
Officer Petersen and Reserve Officer Borleis assisted with Safety Town the first week of June. Borleis
conducted bicycle safety training with the kids, while Petersen "patrolled the streets of town ".
Reserve Officers provided assistance with pedestrian safety during the annual Cherry Car Show the
first weekend of June.
The Reserve Officers, along with office staff, are organizing a new process to assist with implementing
better education on and enforcement of the dog ordinance throughout the entire city. This has already
helped with increasing the number of dog owners that have purchased the required dog licenses for
their pets as well as getting rabies vaccinations up to date.
The Reserve Officers held their first annual Pet Parade on Saturday, June 19th. The event was a great
success with having 50 entrances for the first year. Mayor Adams walked through the parade carrying
her gold fish. We had everything from pet rocks to horses. Area business and the local 4 -H Dog club
assisted with having booths / activities set up around the area of Bobber Land Park and gave discounts
to those attending, for such things as vaccinations.
Almost the entire department will be working this coming weekend for all of the 4th of July festivities.
The department has increased the number of reserve officers we have in our unit to 14, which will
greatly help to cover parade route duties previously covered by other departments / PLPD officers not
able to assist this year.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jerry Braam
Chief of Police
I...
