OR
December 20, 2011
Mayor and City Council
City of Pequot Lakes
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: Planning Commission Report
Dear Mayor and City Council,
WE
U T E
Fax 866.924.1928
The Planning Commission met for their regularly scheduled December meeting at which
there were three public hearings. They are forwarding you three recommendations at
this time.
1) Ordinance Amendment regarding Composition of the Planning
Commission. City of Pequot Lakes, Applicant. Application 11-4032.
The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed amendment recommended by
the City Council to reduce the number of Planning Commission members from
seven to five. Although the Planning Commission respects the need to reduce
costs, they felt reducing the amount of members serving would not be in the best
interest of the City.
There was a lot of discussion regarding the composition of the Planning
Commission, and it was ultimately determined that having a greater number of
members with a wider knowledge base is more beneficial to the City.
The Planning Commission recommends the amendment to reduce
the number of Planning Commission members from seven to five not
be approved.
The Planning Commission is recommending an alternate amendment to reduce
costs. They are suggesting the number of Planning Commission meetings
required per year be reduced from twelve to eleven and the per meeting payment
to Planning Commission Members be reduced from $100 to $75. They are also
suggesting the Planning Commission shall consist of "no less than six (6) and no
more than seven (7) members."
WWW.COMMUNITYGROWTH.COM WWW.$TRONGTOWNS.ORG
