EDC Minutes
June 19, 2018 --,
Page2of3
-----------------------------
Nancy Malecha stated the Marketing Subcommittee has met twice at
Widseth Smith Nolting and have put together a text document for the
80 acres south of the Pequot Lakes Business Park. The
Communications Manager at the Chamber is in the process of creating
the visualization pieces into the packet.
Commission discussion ensued regarding the shovel ready" concept
and the option of a presentation video for the development and what
should be included in the video.
6. Paving of Schmidt Wav
Nancy Malecha explained research was conducted to establish why
Schmidt Way is the only road in the Business Park that is unpaved and
the assumption is that when the other roads were paved and assessed to
land owners, there were not properties along Schmidt Way that were able
to be assessed at the time.
7. EDC Budaets
a. Static Billboard Sign for 2018
No update given.
b. 2019 Preliminary Budget
Nancy Malecha presented the preliminary budget for the Economic
Development Commission that included the 2018 budget amounts,
actual expenditures, and the 2019 preliminary budget.
Commission discussion ensued regarding programs that are available
for assistance in funding projects and increasing the contribution to the
BLAEDC contract from $7,500 to $10,000 to gain extra assistance with
economic development goals. Nancy Malecha suggested a gradual
increase of$1,000 each year toward the BLAEDC contract to alleviate
any spikes in the EDC budget as the Council has directed her to keep
the tax rate level.
COMMISSIONER RIECK MOVED TO GRADUALLY INCREASE
THE BLAEDC CONTRACT BY$1,000 PER YEAR UNTIL $10,000 IS
ACHIEVED. COMMISSIONER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED 4-0.
8. Comprehensive Plan Update - http://www.peauotlakes-mn.aov/ `
