Heart of the Good Life Development Video
6/14/18
The first step is to start with the message—what are you trying to communicate?Who's your audience?
What do they want to hear? What do they need to know? This should be simple and clear. We don't
need to tell them everything. The goal of this video is to grab someone's attention, get them excited
about a development opportunity, and contact Nancy(or someone else)for more information.
Once the message is nailed down, we need to decide how it should be delivered. This can be done
through a voiceover of a written script or interviews.Voiceover scripts allow you complete control over
what's being said while interviews rely on what a person actually says. Most people get nervous on
camera and have trouble delivering a solid interview. It can be done, but it requires the right person and
some planning. Voiceovers are easier to adapt as the video goes through revisions. It's much harder to
add pieces to interview footage (you need to shoot another interview).
The next step is to come up with a list of supporting visuals. This will include lifestyle clips from around
Pequot Lakes, maps, aerial views of the site, and a variety of concept animations.
The Heart of the Good Life Development video will include the following.
• (Approximately$1,000)Voiceover or Interview:We'll write a voiceover script and coordinate
voice talent for recording, or interview someone to deliver the message.
• (Approximately$1,500) B-roll Video Footage: We'll shoot aerial clips of the site from multiple
directions and lifestyle shots (Paul Bunyan Trail, golf, boating, shopping, baseball, etc.). It'll be
the best if we can get this type of footage this summer, while everything is green, and people
are out and about. That also gives us flexibility, should you decide to go ahead with the video
next winter. We'll already have that footage.
• (Approximately$8,000) Modeling and Animation: Create a development concept for the site.
We'll animate a variety of views, which will include people, landscaping, realistic materials, cars,
etc. We'll show a site plan of a concept development for the entire site and then transition to
ground level animations in three zones—small buildings(north part of site), large buildings
(middle), and recreation (south end of site).
• ($50) Licensed Background Music.
• ($5,000)Video Production: Bringing it all together—editing, overlay text,graphics,videos,
animations, music, and maps.
The costs for the Heart of the Good Life Development video will be approximately$14,000—16,000.
The video will be between three and four minutes in length and will include the elements listed above.
Here are some example videos that are similar to what we'll produce for you.
