AGENDA ITEM #10.1.A
cty of
Pequot
Lakes =
REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Nancy Malecha
Date: August 7, 2018
Subject: Heart of the Good Life Development — Shovel Ready Certification
Report: The 85 acres south of the Pequot Lakes Business Park has been
renamed the Heart of the Good Life Development by the Economic Development
Commission (EDC). The EDC is unanimously recommending the Council proceed
with the shovel ready certification process for this Development per the attached
proposal from Widseth Smith Nolting at a cost of$18,800 to be paid from the
Business Park Fund.
Shovel ready certification sites offer a competitive edge in attracting businesses
because the most time consuming technical and regulatory aspects of development
are already completed. This application process includes the following which is
then submitted to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic
Development. A copy of the application is also attached.
• Contact & site information
• Land use & zoning information
• ALTA/NSPS land title survey
• Site layout
• Aerial photos
• Community profile
• Desktop review of archaeological/cultural resources
• Desktop review of threatened and endangered species
• Wetland delineation review
• Phase I environmental site assessment
• Transportation information
• Utility availability information
