They
acted on one of the applications, and are forwarding you two ordinance amendments.
1. Ordinance Amendment to Prohibit Digital Signs. The Ordinance
Amendment was created to clarify the City's approach to digital signs. The
Planning Commission was presented with two approaches: The first would allow
digital signs that are static in nature while the second would expressly prohibit
digital signs. The Planning Commission approved the language that prohibits
digital signs.
2. Ordinance Amendment to create a Large Resort Overlay District. The
Planning Commission approved the Ordinance Amendment creating a Large
Resort Overly District which calculates allowable density based on the DNR's
April 2oog Draft Shoreland Rules. Essentially, the amendment allows resorts in
the "Large Resort Overlay District" to have higher densities than what is allowed
by the Planned Unit Development Criteria. Instead of calculating the density by
number of units, the "Large Resort Overlay District" would calculate density by
maximum amount of ground cover.
The Ordinance Amendment is requested by Wilderness Resort Villas, LLC. They
indicated that if approved, they will request that an amendment to their
conditional use application be approved to allow for more, smaller units.
The Ordinance Amendments are included for the City Council to act on.
WWW.COMMUNITYGROWTH.COM WWW.$TRONGTOWNS.ORG
