City of Pequot I.akes <br /> Policy for Enforcement of Administrative Penalties <br /> Adopted�/9/i8 <br /> The enforcement of violations of Chapter 1�of the Land Use and Subdivision Ordinance, <br /> as outlined on the Offense Timeline, except lawn mowing, shall be as follows: <br /> i. Staff will receive complaint and document with photographs; letter will be mailed <br /> to property owner giving notice of violation citing specific ordinance language, <br /> the need to abate, and a reasonable timeframe to comply; include language that <br /> failure to comply will result in administrative citation or criminal prosecution or <br /> other civil legal action. <br /> 2. Revisit property and document with photographs; second letter will be mailed <br /> giving notice of violation citing specific ordinance language,the need to abate, <br /> and a shorter timeframe to comply; include notice of criminal prosecution or <br /> participation in administrative citation program as mutually beneficial <br /> alternative to harsher consequences of criminal prosecution. ' <br /> 3. Revisit property; issue Administrative Citation; $ioo/day until abated or $1,000 ' <br /> annually. After $i,000 maximum, Sergeant Turcotte will turn over to City <br /> Prosecutor for prosecution or Staff will notify City Attorney of nuisance <br /> abatement. <br /> The enforcement of lawn mowing violations shall be as follows: <br /> �. Publish notice in newspaper annually in the spring detailing code language that <br /> lawns must be mowed and only one notice per season will be mailed to the <br /> property owner. <br /> 2. Mail letter to property owner stating this is the only notice they will receive, <br /> include specific ordinance language,lawn must be mowed within io days and <br /> kept mowed for the season. If not mowed within io days,Administrative Citation <br /> will be issued $1oo/day and City will have contractor mow the lawn and assess <br /> costs to taxes. <br /> 3. If lawn continues to not be mowed, City will issue an Administrative Citation; <br /> $loo/day until abated or $i,000 annually; City will have contractor mow lawn <br /> and assess costs to taxes. After $i,000 maximum, Sergeant Turcotte will turn <br /> over to City Prosecutor for prosecution. <br />
