City of Pequot Lakes
Road Standards/Specification Guidelines
Adopted: June 5,2018
All improvements of roads within City Right-of-Ways(ROWs),whether new roads or existing
roads which undergo a significant reconstruction, shallbeplanned for and implemented by taking
into account the following inputs.
• T'he City's most current Comprehensive Plan.
• The City's most current Downtown Plan.
• These Guidelines.
• The Road Classifications Map.
• The Priority Elements Matric.
• Typical Sections for different road classifications.
• The input of the Public Works Department on maintenance, condition, and
budget parameters.
• A review by the Council, Staff,Planning Commission, City Engineer, and other
appropriate parties.
It is acknowledged that a"one size fits all" approach, while desired for the sake of uniformity of
expectation for users, consistency, and efficiencies is desirable, will most likely not be able to be
achieved everywhere due to unique terrain or other factors.
All type of transportation users should be considered when pla.nning improvements, whether in
that specific corridor or segment, or elsewhere in the transportation system(e.g. we do not want
bicyclists on a freeway, but we should look at what corridor or segment bicyclists should be
accommodated).
