I
NEW BUSINESS—SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE
Agenda Item: (b)
Background Information: Section i-5.i (6-D) states "Unless specifically
allowed, no more than four leases per year, per dwelling are allowed."
Jonathan Yahn, a property owner on West Twin Lake, attended the April 9
Planning Commission meeting regarding short-term rentals; below are the
Minutes pertaining to this:
"OPEN FORUM:
Jonathan Yahn,West Twin Lake Association President, but is only speaking as a
private citizen. He requested the Planning Commission address short-term
rentals, such as VRBO's and similar rentals. The people who frequently rent their
properties are changing the complexion of our quiet neighborhoods. He
encouraged the Planning Commission to bolster the ordinance to make it
practically enforceable. Four leases per year are allowed. As it is written it is
hard to enforce. Chair Hallan stated he will review this with Staff to potentially
include on an upcoming Agenda."
Planning Commission Action Requested: Direct Staff how to proceed with
Mr.Yahn's concerns and/or potential ordinance amendment.

Pequot Lakes Staff Report 7)-1
June 2i,2oi8
